I disagree that a car in neutral is necessarily "out of control". If I need power or engine braking, I shift. I don't see the problem. I remain in control.

I'm not 100% sure where that old "neutral = out of control" warning came from. I come across it once in a while.

I suspect it dates back to the days when vehicles had relatively poor friction brakes and applying (riding) them during a long descent while in neutral (ie. minus engine braking) could have led to braking loss due to fade or boiling the brake fluid.

It's not really an issue for an experienced driver, it's just on the long or steep downhill sections that you must make sure to get in gear.

Older cars felt itchy when going through corners in neutral.
Modern cars on moders tyres feel OK in those conditions.

Thanks Vekke for short support yesterday. It is a pity that we hadn't time to agree how we will drive and who will show way. I was hurry to checkpoint so made few mistakes (actually these are only ones during whole 5000 km). It is also nice to meet you, but again we needed to go on board of ferry. It was nice to talk with you more.

By the way, I tried to tailgaite you, but Scangauge showed no gains tailgaiting your modified Lupo
