This is not untrue!
For some reason I still haven't cancelled that classified ad email alert.

Mike: yes, could be strut mounts, struts, rack, tie rods, I honestly haven't really investigated. I'll have a good peek at it before it goes on the road next year.

Katmandu: I rarely drive in heavy traffic or on congested freeways, but those times that I do it doesn't bother me at all. As for sub/urban driving, I'm lucky to live in a small city/region that has a pretty laid back drivers. (But that's great regardless of what you drive)

1 year update!
Almost forgot about my 2000 Metro, didn't you?
Well, that makes two of us!
This car will be entering service in the not too distant future as my next winter beater, when the MPGiata goes into hibernation.
I'll be taking it for inspection next week, and will let the mechanic solve the mystery of the steering noises. Aside from a siezed rear wiper, I'm sure that's the only repair it needs to pass, and I've got all the spare parts I need to fix it.
Then: e-test.
Then: anti-rust spray
Then: move a bunch of ecomods from the Firefly to the Metro for the winter months.
More to come...

My mechanic today, when dropping the Metro off for inspection:
"I'm beginning to think you have a small car fetish."
Me: "Only beginning to think??"

Passed!
I un-siezed the rear wiper pivot (corroded) before I took it in, fully expecting there would be additional work to do after he checked it over.
But...
It passed!
I told the mechanic about the front end rattle, but he said it was just loose slider pins on the front calipers. I think it may still be something other than just that, but am happy to get the pass anyway. I'll check it over more thoroughly later.
He was actually pretty impressed with the condition of the car: "the previous owner changed a LOT of parts, eh?" Yup.
Now it just needs an e-test before I can put it on the road.
The inspection expires in 36 days, so the MPGiata's days are numbered! Have to transfer the plates before it expires.

Probably wouldn't have worked: he makes fun of me for my gas-saving ways. (As the amount of coroplast mods slowly increases on the Miata...)

Just tell'em that coroplast is the new *SECRET* high-mileage material, sorta like teflon for air (wink, wink).
