Ecomoder from the UK

Now then chaps.

Greetings from the UK! I stumbled across this site last week and it's great! Love the "Garage" section...works very well.

Decided it was time to do something about my fuel economy, as it isn't exactly cheap anymore (despite me getting the cheapest diesel in the UK). I'm paying £4.77 per UK Gallon | $5.89 per US Gallon.

I drive a Vauxhall (Opel / Saturn) Astra, 2 litre diesel which offers around 120ps & book mpg (comb) figure is 49(uk) - 40.83(us). I've had the car for aroun 2 and a half months, and am getting great fuel eco - upto 51 usmpg so far.

At the moment the car is completely standard, but mods will come eventually!

Let me know what you think, and check out my fuel log!

I love the new Astra. I don't think anyone on here has one except for you.

Hi, thanks for the reply!

I don't have the current model - it's a 2001 model so the previous shape (don't think it was available in the US?)

My next car will be one of the newer 1.7 cdti Eco4s though.

You're right - the previous gen Astra wasn't available in North America. And of course the current one can't be had with a diesel.

Welcome to the site!

I think you should post pictures

I couldn't figure out what an '01 CD looks like... and I'm sure with a picture, we can give you starter ideas for mods!

It looks good, nice color too.

I could see a Kammback making a good impact on your mileage after driving techniques have been exhausted.
