That's a shame, but understandable. My wife is from the Sudbury area in Ontario, and we'll end up living there eventually. The idea of a sailboat to cruise the rivers and islands around the great lakes is appealing. Especially if it's nice and quiet and the battery is topped up on board.

I didn't know drop-in generators were a thing, so a propeller that doubles as a turbine sounds like a great idea. And having such a tall mast would be perfect for a wind turbine. Combine that with a couple of solar panels and you could have a boat that is almost always charged! (ok so it wouldn't be as easy as that, but still.)

Sudbury area is fantastic! I've visited a few times - all that rock made me wish I'd brought a mountain bike.

Lots of cruising boats are kitted out with renewable energy generation. A big part of the trick is minimizing consumption!
