We'd be happy to have a large EM get together as part of "Hybridfest - A Hybrid Electric Car Show and More!" in Madison, WI this summer.
Ecomodding is definitely part of the "..And More!" portion of the festival.
We have other transportation things there besides just hybrids including biodiesel, electric cars, electric bikes, NEVs, propane vehicles, E85, diesel hybrids, etc.
If anyone is willing to display their cars or talk about ecomodding, we could probably work something out, too.
(I soooo want to see the basjoos boattail in person!)

I would want to go to one of those... but it seems that I'd look like a jerk pulling up in a big suv...

Personally, I think it would be a great "icebreaker" for conversations.
Put a few stats related to your MPG (compared to the EPA estimates) on the window and I'm sure that would get people talking.

Honestly dude, if people don't accept you for who you are (and not your vehicle), then I wouldn't take their 2-cents.
I say, show up in the Jeep, hang out with some Hybrid folks and talk FE. You have something in common -- wanting to improve FE.
Once you park the ZJ and mingle around, then there's no reason to be self-conscious.
In my first FE meetup, I ended-up getting assigned a Mustang rental. It made for a good conversation piece...

*Me* oh.. seven... maybe up to seventy-five MPG if I try... I do it in reverse on my 400 mile commute to Canada and back.
