That's because - as been said in a different context - it's not the heat, it's the humidity. You're exhaling a lot of moisture, which condenses on the cold glass. Open the window, most of that gets sucked outside. And, if the humidity outside is fairly low, the air flow will sublimate the condensation away without melting it.
If you think going to work in the morning is bad (for condensation, I'm not getting into other issues :-)), try getting into a cold vehicle with two energetic dogs, panting heavily after an afternoon of cross-country skiing. Opening the window a crack doesn't work, it needs to be at least halfway to do any good.
PS: And, from this morning's news, another costly side effect of idling cars to warm them up:
