this could be a good thing to beat traffic jams and conjestion, where basically people are already in a roadtrain, only it's not moving... wich in turn gives them the opportunity to do all sorts of things besides driving, wich causes accidents etc....

this system oviously has a lot of technical challenges though but it has to advantage you get from A to B as of you where in an ordinary train, but then can continue on your own way

I read about something similar in a magazine circa 1990. It was about putting magnets into the pavement of an LA highway to keep cars in their lanes. The system was to be automated, and reducing the distances between cars was not for fuel savings from drafting, but to pack more cars into existing roads. I believe that project is still going on, but I'm not sure.

Being able to safely draft a truck would be great, but I wonder how long I'll have to wait for it?
