EV charging station signs

This weekend, I made it out to a small Alt Car Fair.

I brought out the motorcycle to show it off, and since I had the Aero-Hub Caps on the truck, I displayed that as well.

An NEV dealer that I know was going to be there, and I had talked with him before about some "Reserved for Electric" signs that he made up.

He gave me one!

Since my local municipality now has NEV ordinance, and the city is going to buy one or two for the utility, I now have a sample of what some reserved Charging/Parking signs for EVs could look like!

I also had a couple of computer hard drive magnets kicking around (VERY powerful...) which had exactly the right size mounting hole to mount on the back on the sign with a small bolt.

That's right! I now have a PORTABLE reserved parking sign I could slap up anywhere!!!!!

I'm thinking I may actually want to drive around town, and put up the sign in several locations, taking photos of it. Then, I could put it into a presentation to show the city what it might look like to have PUBLIC EV CHARGING in our town!

Ben, I think that's a great idea! And just think, you already have some media exposure and (il)legal background in the town! Just think of the clout you could throw about with all that weight to push!

LOL - seriously though - it's a great idea, maybe it will help people visualize a projected future plan!

And make sure you get some wide-angle shots of your Metro parked in front of the sign as well...

Might even be fun to take the Metro to a luncheon, park it, put the sign up, and watch people's reactions to it and the car while you're having lunch?

Residential real estate has really hit new lows in CA. I went to an Open House and mentioned that several charging stations may help sales, and described my home charging problem here in this complex.

That complex salesman called several days later; discussed that with "higher-ups" and they had decided any EV owner would get 2 indoor parking stalls- one for charging- 1 with no outlet. That is way "over and above" sales pitches of yesteryear.

Good use of those signs. Kind of embarrassing to say that I have 3 EVs, and 1 more on the way!

I know one guy who is a dealer for the ChargePoint stations.

I saw him yesterday at the Milwaukee Auto Show and gave him one of the signs to use to help promote his charging stations at the show.

Yeah, and get a ticket for parking your Metro in a "Reserved for Electric" space. I'd love to see the officer's face when you show him that the Metro is electric.
