after doing some more reading.....the 1991 had 22mpg on the highway AND weighed more AND was not as aerodynamic.....

I call bs on marketing hype!!

It may have increased the mileage vs not having the air suspension.

Its funny that you can get a new truck that has more power than those old land barges and the truck will still get the same mileage.

Hey, my first car was a 97 Mark VIII.

It was a tank. Got around 30 mpg on the highway. A lot less in town.

Brucey I had the mark vii lsc. Very nice ride. Had very nice seats w bolsters that pumped up That was way before my mpg days!

Had a couple VIII's in the family. They handled well for being bigger. Though they aren't "full size" big. They're based on the Thunderbird of the same era, just like the VII before it. They WERE heavier than the VII. Around 3800lb curb if I remember. The base model had a 3.08 diff ratio and the LSC had a 3.27, and didn't have much problem hitting the speed limiter, 130 in the base and slightly lower in the LSC, due to driveshaft issues. You would think a $40k car (early 90's $ at that) wouldn't need speed limited due to such a thing...

30 mpg highway wasn't too difficult.
