FE be damned - top 5 cars

OK - so you have just won the county, state, national, Euromillions lottery. You have paid off the debts, the house is yours, the kids are sorted and the wife (or hubby or partner) is happy.

You have a 6 car garage and after the "family" motor you have 5 spaces to fill. What would you buy ? And why ?

To start the ball rolling, my top 5.

1. Lancia Stratos

Because it looks so wild, and is a rally champion. The interior door "bins" have spaces built in for rally helments - no honest... I know there is an updated one but the original one is the one I would buy.

2. Lambo Countach Original

The original shape is the best and most dramatic. Mine must have orange seats.

3 Metro 6R4

0-60 in 3 seconds. On mud, snow, gravel or indeed any surface...

4. Mini Cooper S 970

The world famous Mini Cooper S models were usually the 1071 and 1275cc models, I want a high revving saloon racing 970S. Imagine one of these vs. a 5 litre V8 Ford Falcon. The Mini would win if the circuit was twisty enough...

5. Bentley Turbo R

From the Pre-BMW/VW buyout of Bentley and RR - A fast Rolls that handles as well as it goes fast.

And not an SUV in sight

Jaguar E-type.

Bugatti Atlantique.

Though this would be a nice substitute :

#1 '72 Pantera w all shortcomings eliminated due to upgrades. Because of the way it would make me feel! Performance, and looks w no excuses!

#2 A quality Lola T70 replica w alum. V8 Because it can be a street car w/o looking like any conventional car!

#3 '62 Ferrari GTO in a sleeper non red color like a light brown. Because you can!

#4 '71 Ferrari Daytona/GTB 365 Because it's so pretty! In a silvery blue w gray interior.

#5 ' 55 Chevy Belair 2dr HT. NO FRONT BUMPER! Candy Apple dark blue, black interior, potent small V8 w shiny blower sticking up through the hood. Has an M22 rockcrusher specially modified for overdrive highway use. This car has modern suspension, and is as capable w that on roadcourses as any sports car!

It must, and I repeat, must; have classic Cragar SS wheels. And it would have the gas filler custom hidden behind the left taillight, and the original gas door eliminated!

Why? Because its my favorite symbol of the strength, and good times that America used to represent! The start of the most famous V8 ever, and MY symbol for the USA instead of a '57 which I give honorable mention!

Other mentions for #5: '70 Hemi Cuda in the wild green, '70 LS6 Chevelle SS, '67 Shelby Mustang in non white/blue colorings, '67 Vette coupe w small block/stick heavily customized in hidden modern suspension work in a light brown!

As a PS to the other's choices so far: I also love the original Countach, and the early XKE.... I would want to CLEAN up the Jag even more: the taillights would have to be frenched in flush, no bumper extention ruining the side view, and last, but not least; it needs a shorter front end as per D type/ XKSS !!!!!!!!!!!!

MG TC/TD/TF.
Tesla.
Honda CRX for when I want to take the dogs, mountain bike, backpacking gear, etc.
80-84 Subaru hatch (or maybe wagon) for winter skiing, or moderately rough dirt.
Mid-80s Toyota pickup, for the really rough roads & hauling stuff.

Of course with unlimited funds, I would spend quite a bit upgrading engines &c.

The really funny part of this is that I've owned 3 of the 5, and still do have the pickup.

What if I probably still wouldn't damn FE under those conditions?

1. tesla

2. I might go for a souped up tdi roadster kit a-la smyth.

3. a biofueled one of these maybe, if I literally had money to burn

4. an amphicar would be neato

5. Maybe clean up/detune an ariel atom for better efficiency

Edit, just noticing some overlap here
