a few mods to my Celica (The Cel-Aero)

Not to be confused with a Solara, I present my Celaero. Thats a working title.

Thats the mostly front belly pan, thin coroplast with Prius wheel spats (customer came in and actually wanted them removed )

This is the partial grill block. No temp change at all with this. Will expand this as time passes.

This little guy is the beginning of covering a huge hole open past the subframe. Coroplast and a VW heatshield.

So this is a preliminary rear deflector. The C-brackets keep the coroplast unbent around the spare tire hump.

Most this stuff was just a quick mockup. I only had to drill one hole to mount all this stuff. Tell me what you think. Where do you see improvement??

I like what you've done, especially with the random spare parts!

I think you'll need larger pieces to make the belly pan worthwhile (though it's a good start) and the grille block probably isn't doing much of anything.

When the air hits your inset grille block it will want to go sideways, right into the side intakes. What I recommend is taking that off and mounting a new, two-part piece flush to the rest of the bumper (Cut it a little larger than the opening and it will easily lay flush) and on each side. That way, air entering at the centerline will still go into the grille, but air coming at the car from a foot or two over will hit an uninterrupted smooth surface all the way to the wheel well.

Visual.

Edit: oops. Didn't see it's a '95. If you don't use the fogs just block over them too. If you do use them block them with clear plastic. I've found clear plastic basement window covers work well for this and are half the price of acrylic.

Also, aero wheel covers and rear wheel skirts will help you. Do the grille block and belly pan first though.

Looks like a can of expanding foam is on my shopping list. Thanks for the input. I didn't figure how useless the "grill air disrupter" is.

Seems like lot of work for the same effect as, say, aluminum flashing, but I'm interested to see how it comes out.

Little update here: Adjusted the grille block moving the space to the middle. I'm surprised how flat the block turned out to be. My rear lower control "arms" are just tubes, so I connected both bars with plastic. I assume it will aid in smooth airflow, but I could also see it just being an airblock. Did waste much time on it so no loss. I ordered a rear visor that goes at that top of the hatch. I'm torn as to whether it will do anything at all. I haven't seen a good angle of it, so we'll see when it arrives.

I keep neglecting to measure the angle.

SO... I did indeed do separate blocks on either side of the opening there, then fixed some stuff... Then traded it to my sister for her less than spectacular Isuzu Trooper

I'm very happy my sister has an affordable car that runs like a champ, less happy that I now have a 15mpg rolling paper weight. I do like rolling carelessly around ATL though. I'll still be around reading about how to get the most mileage out of my 6cyl 4x4...
