Hmmm....
Looks like I've got some length-of-payback-time calculations to do.
I know a Super MID would help me oodles, I'm sure I could get to >65mpg with one, but right now that's $160 worth of bike parts that I couldn't get for my new project...
And my employer pays for my gas...
Decisions, decisions.

You can always re-sell a MID.
So get one, use it long enough to fine-tune your driving habits, then sell it to someone else. There are always people looking.
You'll get most of your $ back & so will dramatically shorten your payback time.
You won't be able to maintain *maximum* efficiency from your driving after you sell it, but once you've used it to hone your skills & cemented them into habits, you could probably maintain 80% (guessing) of the gains you got from it even after you've passed it on to someone else.

the supermid is made by an ecomodder in Japan, ithink. he has only so much time. and with the weak dollar...against us. i searched in Japanese.
hold your hat, the ecomodder guru's are busy designing a MPG meter in the Instrumentation forum. i don't understand all the electronics so i am trying to lend moral support. go modders!

Back on topic, I am currently on my first tank using the scangauge on the Elantra. Looking at my fuel log, a mixed 50/50 tank should lead roughly 30 mpg. Guess what, I'm going to hit 37+ mpg on my current 50/50 tank. The SG may be off as it's not calibrated yet, but I know the distance points at the quarter tank and half tank marks for 35 mpg and I'm past that.
The SG is the single best mod one can do.
