Normally, I don't care for V8s stuffed into Beetle. This is what it takes to do things right:

Once a Beetle loses its ability to serve as a family car, it's no longer a Beetle at all. Put a mid-engine in a Beetle and it becomes a streamlined Toyota MR2

At least it's better than front-engined.

A front engine didn't prevent the VW Gol, the Fiat Uno and the Opel Corsa B to take some of the family-oriented market share of the Beetle in Brazil. Not sure if a mid-engined car would be suitable to that.

Isn’t the classification just a subjective thing? For example I love beetle panel conversations. But a purist thinks I’m destroying vintage tin. Subjective, right?

Looks like a Karmann Ghia sedan, similar to the 1954 Studebaker sedan compared to the coupe.

Have a front engined VW. Its called a Golf TDI. Not as sexy as a rear engined Ghia, the engine requirements destroy the swoopy looks.

A family-oriented version of the Karmann-Ghia, which would ultimately result in the Type 3 Notchback/TL/Variant range instead.

It was listed as a concept car that never made it into production in ‘55.
That’s all I know. The daily feed doesn’t give a full definition. But I like the randomness of the brand history that is shown.
