That's a better rear end aerodynamically, I wonder if the Willys style nose is any better. I think it needs off-road suspension [slammed] and full pontoon fenders.

Nice.
The smooth white camper interior contrasts with the patina'd Dove Blue cab. Needs air bags apparently.

Here's a walk-around of a Brazilian Kombi. An informed look at the odd mixture of various year's handles and hinges:
....And speaking of NPR [RIP]:

My 1958 convertible had blown out heater channels like that. The rubber wiper on the roll-down quarter windows would fail and the rainwater would go straight to the doubled-up rocker panels.

It seemed like he had only fixed domestic cars, but here you go: Over three hours of fixing a car with an engine attached with four fasteners?
Aren't bugs supposed to be simple to repair?!

Aircooled VW were simple compared to the specialty tools needed to disassemble AND rebuild a similar vintage detroit model. Figure an hour to jack up the rear and drop the entire engine, cylinder #1 low compression, yup its out and about another 1/2 hour to refresh. By that same token, my Harley was simple compared to a honda 750, because you could replace a cylinder assembly without removing the entire engine from the frame. Don't recall being able to do that with my 450 scrambler DOHC.
I tell stories about driving my daughter to school and I rebuilt a bug engine then picked her up in the very same bug at the end of the school day

I dislike V-8 engines in the front of VW Beetles, but a mid-engine Jake Raabe Porsche 914 engine is another matter:
He got the engine for $1000. Don't tell the guy that's going to buy my 1776 stroker. Here's the story: grassrootsmotorsports.com/: Purple Frog's VW Build
Beige Beetles rule.
