First 500+mi tank in my IGL!

So I’ve been quietly working on my car lately, not really being able to do much due to being broke. My fiancé’s friend fell injured and needed help with her house in an urgent way (post surgery with nobody with her), so we were sent cash and set out. I filled the car in Morgantown WV on E15 and then proceeded to drive to Albany NY without needing to refuel, a distance of 520 miles. Given that my low fuel light hasn’t come on I’m assuming I still have some range left still. I’m stoked!

I had briefly considered filling the car on ethanol free fuel that night. I’m cheap and E15 was what it ended up getting

I had installed front tire air deflectors and ditched my airbox for a true CAI taking air from the fenderwell. That last mod actually likely hurt mileage a little, IAT temps dropped to 6-8° above ambient

Nicely done! I always enjoyed hitting 500 miles on a tank.

Now I can't get much over 400. With my non-commute, my trips are all too short for really good MPG, and I don't have a way to pre-heat the engine/drivetrain to get it out of warmup mode quickly. On the other hand, I'm only filling up every six weeks or so!

I finally filled the tank last night to actually know what the mileage was. 526.7 miles and 10.895 gallons of fuel. All highway except a little city at the end

I think, now that I have fill data for that tank, that had I just continued driving and ignored the fuel gauge I could have had a 1,000km (624mi) tank. In theory the car has a 13 gallon tank and it took less than 11 to fill it, meaning I would have had *just* enough fuel, though any miscalculation would have me on foot which I’m not comfortable with

At least up to E5, the mileage improvements for E0 have been reported to be mostly negligible. But anyway, for most modern cars I wouldn't hold my breath for E15 to do much harm actually.
