Believe it or not, it's actually easier to get better MPG in the hills than on the flat, depending on what techniques you're prepared to employ (and whether your vehicle is suited to using them).

I have found this to be true. I would add curves in the road as well, it helps keep the speed down and gives natural reasons for pulse and glide.
