And how did you do it?

EOCing? Driving Technique? Driving below 65? Driving as 55mph as your maximum limit?

Btw your car, is it auto or manual?

The car is a 5 speed. good gearing in the HF helps. I commute down from the foothills so I do some coasting - engine off and I run between 55-65mph. In town I shift at about 2k. Still working on timing lights and reading traffic better.

Your trend looks very positive. You should be approaching 60 mpg tanks this Summer.

Congrats!

What fuel economy instrumentation do you have? Your garage entry shows "factory", but I didn't know Honda had any MPG gauges back then.

We know you can't use a ScanGauge (pre-OBD2), so MPGuino would have been the only other option I was aware of (or... SuperMID of course).

no special instrumentation. I just watch my tach. and use "feel". I've thought about a vacuum gauge but it'll probably be summer before I really mess around with anything. Planning on advancing the timing 4 deg. as soon as I can borrow a timing light.

MPGuino is the way to go if you've got some DIY abilities.

Digital MPG display = game gauge. Takes the fun to a new level.

I would second some type of MPGomiter. I had the opportunity to drive a few newer cars with them from the factory, and while I wanted one before now I really want one.

I used to live in his area. Getting 50 mpg in the hills takes some doing.
