That’s an incredible project! The Zevo 600 is already a game-changer for electric vans, and adding an aero tail could really push its efficiency even further. Your design with the roll-out feathers sounds like something straight out of aerospace engineering. A 20% drag reduction would be a huge achievement—can’t wait to see the data when you test it.

If 68% of fuel is used accelerating mass. vs 14% for aero drag (city driving)
then (weight adding) aero takes a 5X second place to weight saving panview, so be careful not to get too carried away by easy aero mods unless you spend a LOT of time driving on freeways.
About 2% of the world average is freeway driving.
IMHO that's why car makers don't bother much with boat tails etc.
JohnForde is in fact on the the freeway more than in town.
But I'd still love to see before/after freeway AND city economy numbers..!?

John completed his long road trip with the tail, and published the results for comparison on Facebook, if you can locate it.

Depends on where you live...... in LA, 85-90 percent is on the freeway. Might still be low speed, but I worked nights and commuted in the other direction.

Any spoilers for those who avoid FB?

I'm sure you will evolve a more elegant solution as time allows.
Gotta do what you gotta do to get to the goal.
Like my engineer used to say, it's always right the second time around.
Thanks for posting here, I'm not a Face bloke guy either.

Wish I could say yes, but diving into Facebook would be a luxury I can't afford for awhile.

So how do "long road trip" numbers apply to my point/question..??

In the USA, EPA testing only attributes 14% of energy to 'acceleration.'
