This comment wins ecomodder today. A guy who unreasonably denies the evidence of science and common sense reported by others deserves the same unreasonable skepticism of the most basic elements of his own testimony. He should prove he was in the rocket. We get to critique every angle, shadown and edit in the video so as to raise the most doubt possible, however unreasonable. What a fun hobby!

Eh, the same spirit of skepticism is what has lead to our advances in technology. Even if flat earthers are centuries behind in science, the spirit of exploration is what propels us forward, or in this case, a few hundred feet into the air.

True, but since his rocket only went to about 1,800 feet, an hour in a small plane could have brought him to 10,000 feet or 5 times higher, with ease.

Try a few millennia behind--Eratosthenes proved the Earth is round and accurately estimated its circumference around 240 BCE.

There's a difference between skepticism (which I would argue is not the driver behind technological advance anyway) and willful ignorance. The fellow in question embraces the latter.

According to Jordan Sather, above, they're up-to-the-moment and intent on making us think in two instead of three dimensions.

How does the Venn diagram of skepticism, curiosity and 'hold my beer' look?

If I can't do it while drinking beer I don't want to do it!

That is why cars have beer holders! Even child seats have beer holders!

Kinderbeer?

Building and doing everything yourself keeps you independent from the conspiracy-funded, third-party services.

I'm sure "Mad Mike" paid special attention to ensure that his experiment would be at a high level of scientific precision. He also must have taken precautions to protect his rocket, and any electronics, from interference from the no-good "Round Earthers".

In a near future...

If the rocket guy could reach 10 miles high, and could see the rounded edge of Earth, he would made up something, like saying it was low oxigen levels making hin see things rounded, or even star a new conspiracy theory about human eyes have some eyefish lens effect and ophthalmologists be paid by government to hide this from society.

The way some flat-earthers are fanatics, that wouldn't surprise me...
