Mine doesn't do that, Iv tried. as long as its in defrost mode, the silly thing wont turn off. I have to switch it to anything that is not coming out toward the window, then I can shut it off. What year was yours? Maybe Honda "fixed" that little annoyance in the later years??? Mine is a 2002...

Mine was an 02 Si too, and it would kick the AC and 'fresh' on when I hit defrost, but I could override them both, just like in my '00 DX. Maybe mine was broke.

That's really weird. So I suppose its possible they changed it mid-year? I don't really think either was "broken" I think its just a question of logic in the control circuit. I am going to reset my ECU...
