AeroStealth's 2014 3.5-Liter EcoBoost will do 22-mpg @ 62 mph on a calm day at 4,000 elevation.
Ford figured that the 2.7-liter/700-lb diet might be good for 2-mpg.So maybe 24 mpg @ 62 mph would be a reasonable expectation.
With a Diesel TDI engine we'd be looking at around 31.2 mpg.

I realize I'm quoting myself but I looked at prices on the Ecodiesel. The least expensive used one I could find in a nationwide search was $27,000 for a 2wd 3 seat version. New it looks like you pay at least $38,000 for a 4 door 4wd. The local place actually has a 4 Dr 4wd 6.7 Cummins brand new for that price. It actually looks like the Promaster Van may be the least expensive way to get a 3.0 diesel.
