There wasn't some recent genetic evolution that endowed us with superior moral virtue. We develop tools that increase our productivity such that slave labor no longer makes sense.

Data points now exist that show that slavery is a boat-anchor on society. You don't get the best work.
Would that we could, today, reproduce something like the Serapeum:

Massive Ancient 100 Ton Boxes Underground At The Serapeum In Egypt ...
Massive Ancient 100 Ton Boxes Underground At The Serapeum In Egypt One of the most intriguing sites in Egypt, which egyptologists can not logically explain is the Serapeum, located in the massive ancient area known as Saqqara. Literally buried and forgotten under the sands of time, Auguste Mariette discovered the Serapeum in 1850.

Optically flat surfaces on Diorite. No small feat. You don't get that level of work with slaves.

That sounds likely, but only given a society of sufficient technology.
A few hundred years ago where it took all of one's time to merely survive, with only a tiny bit of excess able to be produced, it might have made sense to have slaves. As long as their production exceeds consumption, an excess is generated.
I'm fairly confident that's why slavery today is only practiced in relatively poorer areas.
As a tangent, I expect we will be modifying our moral disposition via genetic engineering at some point in the near future. If the sociopath gene(s) can be located, many people might choose to exclude those from their offspring, for instance.

It's one of the things Scott Adams is not wrong about.
Technology sufficed in 1718, with the patent on the Puckle Gun. You might think I'm kidding. It had a special round for the Barbary Pirates.

Genetics won't produce a psychopath alone you need some social misguidence.. genetics only produces tendencies.

Right, which can be controlled by engineering.
I'm guessing we'll have a bunch of genetically engineered soyboys in the future. Not saying that's necessarily bad, so long as there's zero men forcing something other than weakness.
Would better if we could focus on the enemy without, rather than the enemy within.

You guys seem to have strayed way off into left field - here's a pic of the hard shell tri-fold tonneau I put on Silver today that'll put a Maverick back into the thread ![Thumbs up](/forum/images/smilies/grinning-smiley-003.gif)

Looks good.
I think that is the option I would go with. More secure than a soft cover, but zero mechanical hassle potential vs. a roll-up.

Cowmeat, you beat me to it....lol, I was thinking, while I haven't read every page, how did it go from Ford Maverick pickup to slavery???
On the plus side, I am waiting on my 2023 XL hybrid to start production, I don't mind the wait, I am using the wait to pay myself the truck payments so I can have a larger downpayment for when I actually purchase the truck.

Can you fold it to make a half-tonneau?
