melting and fire are completely different things... those instances were plastic is utilized, it needs to really have an incredible amount of heat for plastic to reach a "flash point" of sorts to burst into flames unless used with highly volitile chemicals in the manufacturing process that generally makes it dagerous in the first place, Im sure we all(who've completed belly pans) have made the proper material selection. and try to avoid things like this at all possible
Further more, when the plastic does melt, it melts only to a degree, like for around exhaust pipes. if touching, this may casuse it to melt, but only as long as its touching, once it stops touching, it will not continue to melt anymore. Kinf of a self remedy of sorts when watched carefully
