Fuel Filter and MPG

Honestly I don't get too many thrills, smiles or grins from climbing rocks at a slow walk with a vehicle. To each their own, but a Jeep and its culture are not for me.

Now, ice racing on the other hand.

Of course. And there's many people on this forum who get their enjoyment from getting 60+ mpg in their vehicles

20 mpg sounds great for an Xterra. From what I've heard of them, they are one of the worst cars you can get as far as gas mileage is concerned. Did you keep the huge roof rack on it?
