That's HILARIOUS. I've actually never heard that one before!

i have sealed the front of the hood with rubber foam, covered all openins except toward the header , and found something interesting.

my ai temps remain about 2 deg over ambient, but i had to take off kinda wquick and they jumped to about 15-18 degrees over that, maybe my ceremic long tube headers push to much heat out, to heat up the intake under normal easy driving, but under high acceleration, the heat builds up under the hood.

Hi,

Just for the record, I swapped over to my snows (Michelin X-Ice) and I installed smooth wheels covers at ~1/2 tank -- and my average for the whole tank jumped up ~2.76mpg over the previous tank!

I'm luvin' these wheel covers! I'll see how this current tank goes...and if it's proportionally better, then I'm definitely keeping these rims on the car next spring! (Do you know anybody who wants to buy some 15" alloy rims?)

Nice mod Neil! Big Dave's lucky you didn't have the mods in place for your first round tank...your latest tank would have topped his adjusted mpg by .53 mpg and put you in the second round!

Interested to know many guys left in the tourney are using instrumentation to assist in monitoring/improving their FE? Mpguino, Scanguage or other instrumentation? As we head down to the Elite 8 it's interesting to hear what guys might have a leg up due to instrumentation, weather conditions, etc.

My MPGuino is still sitting assembled but not installed. I'm hoping to have time this weekend to get it in. Either that or I need to find a cheap DC/AC converter to do it at work on my lunch break.

Would've been handy for that last tank though.

*edit* make that seriously long extension cord. The converter would only work if the battery was connected and I'm thinking soldering a live 12v wire would be bad..

My guino has been installed. Since I've installed it, I've only gotten a few tanks of data to calibrate. It keeps crapping out in the middle of at least every other tank.

I'd be lost without my SGII. It gives incredible incentive to keep trying to ratchet up that 'tank avg.' screen!
