Gas Mileage Conversion Button In Forum Post Editor?

Ok so I had a crazy idea. What about adding a button to the forum post editor that allows you to enter your mileage in MPG's or l/km and it will convert and paste both the MPG's and l/km info in to your post?

That way for those of us using "the other one" don't have to convert what the person is saying to understand the results.

Or, much the same way it already recognizes links and parses them, etc... if could recognize MPG or L/100KM and have a module that automatically translates it to MPG(L/100KM) in that type of display.

Not sure just how do-able that is, though.

Or recognize either term and turn it into a link that goes to the calculator with the data already input. I suppose that would work, too.

I once proposed to use BB codes, like italics and bold:
Code:
[mpg]56[/mpg]
or
Code:
[lp100km]4.2[/lp100km]
would be automatically displayed as both. Same for pounds/kilograms, inches/centimeters, etc.
To make it even more fun, have options in your user panel regarding which units you prefer and only those would be displayed in your browser.

I'm not sure if that would be a programming nightmare? My guess is that it would be harder than just learning to use the metric system, though maybe not as hard as learning the non-meteric system(s)
