General Introduction -- researcher doing online survey about eco-driving

Hi all,

I'm a researcher exploring eco-driving and and am interested in the techniques that people use to save fuel when driving.

Looking forward to learning about the techniques used by the people in the forum and hopefully saving some money myself on my own petrol!

As far as cars go I drive a Toyota Aygo.

Eco-Driving, an Online Questionnaire

What is the research about?
This research aims to examine the driving techniques of a wide demographic of drivers. You will be asked to complete an online questionnaire that examines techniques that you use when driving. Although this study is aimed primarily at exploring environmentally friendly driving behaviours, we are interested in all drivers, and what motivates them to drive the way they do.

As I'm a researcher I wondered if there was any places which would be best to place links to questionnaires on eco-driving?

I hope to get to know some both techniques the group uses and the impact it has on their fuel use and emissions, and what drives them to be eco-drivers

There's the sticky list of 65+ mods in Ecomodding Central, and the 100+ driving hints and tips sticky in Hypermiling.

I think the first tip, the one that lies at the core of every hypermiler, is the dissatisfaction with the status quo. The foundation that underpins that could be economical in nature, it could be competitive - I am constantly battling myself to do better and every time the aircon comes on, I die a little inside - it could be a conspiracy nut's finger in the eye of The Man. But it starts with an urge.

Welcome

CAllison - apologies for not replying to your contact query promptly.

You're more than welcome to promote your research survey here. I'll re-title this thread and add the survey link in your initial post so people will better see what it's about and participate (hopefully).

CAllison - hmm, I just watched a few episodes of "Living with the Amish," and a young lady from the UK living with Amish families, her name was Charlotte Allison. Coincidence.

Anyway: post your questionnaire here and I will answer it, or PM me.

elhigh, Metro has posted the link to the questionnaire in the initial post if you haven't already seen it. Thanks for considering completing it its really appreciated. Part of my research is seeing what really defines a hypermiler and what we can do to encourage people to be more aware of their fuel usage. The difference in awareness of fuel usage is really interesting.

Please complete the questionnaire and encourage others to also complete it.

Charlotte is no relation to mine - Never even heard of the show until you said and I googled it, so it is 100% a coincidence we share the same first initial and surname.

Finished it. A bit more comprehensive than I was expecting, so that was encouraging.

One question bothered me: "I would buy an eco car, for instance a hybrid if there weren't a price penalty" or words to that effect. I wanted to check Strongly Disagree as I would buy it regardless of the price penalty. It was just three minutes ago and I don't remember how I marked it. I thought the wording was a bit ambiguous and could leave a respondent scratching his head how to answer.
