I used to think the Prius could be seen as a status symbol only in a failed country like mine, altough many of their owners in a worldwide basis act like they consider themselves kinda like a superior race

In the 80s that was deemed hi-tech, and in spite of looking old it's still not bad.

Nothing in there to single out BMWs except a Google search snippet, which yields likewise results if you fill in Lexus or you-know-what.

*cough*
The conclusion: The biggest ragers were men, age 35-50, with blue BMWs.
Now we're drifting farther.

Drifting back on track (haha)
Datsun 510 & 240Z:
It was cool that the Datsun pickup shared the same engine as the 510 and therefore could use all the same racing parts:
Porsche 906:

Ha ha ... no.
But along with the Datsuns I also enjoy all manner of boxer-engined vehicles, including many flavors of VW (Beetle, K-G, Kombi, Microbus), Porsche (356, early 911), Subaru (WRC Impreza, Legacy GT Wagon such as I have), and BMW (R-series 'bikes).
Along with the Porsche 917 mentioned previously by RiderOfBikes, I also particularly like the "street-legal" sports cars that Porsche created such as the 906 I posted above and the 904:
Happily saw a 904 "in real life" on public streets on its way to the Laguna Seca track... tiny little thing, but it has some really nice lines.

The later L20B truck engine was a mean swap into a 510. I always wanted to put a turboed L20B into a Z car. All the powertrain parts are interchangeable.
