Good Veggie Oil conversion!?!?

Just saw a VW Rabbit pickup for sale!

http://milwaukee.craigslist.org/car/566122646.html

Sounds like a good buy!
Wouldn't this be a perfect little truck for either biodiesel or a vegetable oil conversion!?!?

Buy it! Now!!

Really, biodiesel conversions consist of changing from rubber to silicon fuel hoses.

WVO/SVO conversions need a seperate tank, heated with coolant or 'lectricity.

Some names that spring to mind are greasecar.com, plantdrive.com, goodgrease.com
still if you're going for cheap, DIY rules the roost.

D'oh!

I got a reply from the diesel Rabbit guy already!

"Hi, I received your email concerning the vehicle I posted on craigslist. I'm buried with emails from interested parties - maybe the price is too low - so please bear with me as I work on responding to all of these emails."

Looks like he just found out how cool little diesels really are!

I am crying inside that I am not going to get this truck.

Imagine this with an aero cap, real wheel covers, and bio-diesel or SVO!

It's basically lowered too!

I bought an S10 about a month again because it was about the most fuel efficient small pickup I could find - then THIS shows up and I am not going to get it!

I'm 6 feet tall and just can just barly squeze in a VW rabbit truck, just something to keep in mind.
I never thought that the trucks were that gutless, I've driven one of the diesels and it seemed ok, but if you really wanted to, you could put one of the older 1.9L turbo diesel VW engines in, apparently they fit really well you will then have a 45mpg front wheel drive pickup truck, but if you are going to do an engine swap like that you might as well get a gas vw truck to start out with so that there is another diesel in the world, the only real drawback is the price of the engine, $3,000 or so for a used engine, and if you brake the timing belt they destroy them selves.

6 Feet tall - and yet you are restoring a Citicar!

I am the same height - I tend to like older cars because the boxy shape gives me more headroom.

I only have the new plywood for the seat in right now, but I have over 3.5" of head room while sitting very upright, relax a bit and head room increases, getting in and out is not a problem at all! as a pasenger in a VW rabbit truck there is a bit more room, but the truck doesn't have tilt on the steering wheel, and the seat is very upright because it basicly rests agenst the rear window, so I've seen people who go as far as to extend the cab to give more leg room.
last spring when I first saw a citicar, one of the things I did was to sit in it for a while, get in and out a few times, making sure that I could stand owning one incase I found a good deal without a chance to see it befor buying it.
