Guess the mileage Ford Fusion??

Anybody care to guess what the final MPG number will be?

I have to do some traveling out of town so I rented a car. It a new Ford Fusion with 1000 miles on the clock. Pretty comfortable ride. I'll have it for a week. The driving will consist of 240 miles on the interstate and 4 days of city driving is San Antonio Texas. I've been very impressed with it for the commute home of 25 miles.

Few things to consider. EPA is 22/31
I'll be eco-driving. No EOC no Mods. I'll bring the tire pressures up to 45 PSI. The car only has 1000 miles so tires and engine are not broken in yet. It's a rental so it has every option. I'm rusty. I've been out of the game for 2 years. No instrumentation except the dashboard AVE MPG indicator. This is what I'll get the final tally from and I zeroed it when I picked it up.

All in all this is a very comfortable car and I think it has a lot of potential if attacked with mods and a light foot. Had good numbers home but it was a absolute perfect eco-driving day.

You can't get that mpg until you use cruise control.

Electric control throttle= suck on gas if you try do with your feet. It get best mpg if you use cruise control.

Just keep rpm around like 2,000 you will see that high mpg.

I got 35 mpg out 08 Taurus that was highest mpg I gotten. But those were at 50 mph with cruise control on all way 150 miles. It have big V6. Without cruise control I would gotten 30 instead 35 mpg.

Here's the EPA for it. It's an automatic 6 speed, 4 cyl.

It won't all be highway driving.

The problem with the fusions is that you can't "neutral bump" the autos. You have to push the shift lock release button to go to N from D. Be carefuly not to overshoot and hit R if you do. I was able to pull 37.2 MPG city by N, ICE-On coasting in an '07 with a 4 speed auto.
