I saw two 4 x 8 still sitting out on my way to work today.
I'll probably grab them on my way home to add to my collection.

People seem pretty slow to pick them up around my way.

Hey, Cd, Howdy from South Austin.

Thanks for the heads-up on the signs in Austin. I tried to send you a reply, but can't send personal messages on Ecomodder until I have 10 posts.

Go get the signs for yourself. I have plenty of plastic for now in small quantities (including my own yard signs). Small sheets from Home Depot did the trick for a bumper deflector and some filling of wheel well space on the jeep.

Thanks again for taking the trouble to send the message. Can't think of a better use for political signage....

Almost all of the signs in my area are the plastic bag stretched over a bent wire kind. Cheaper, lighter, take up less space in the dump and are completely useless for repurposing.

I plan to call the recycling center today here in Austin to see if there is any large sheets there.
I used to live near Houston, and the recycling center near there had a huge pile of the stuff each year free for the asking.
Austin may be a little different. Despite bragging about how 'green' they are, they are way behind .
I tried calling the election offices here and asking for some leftovers 'for my moms garden' but they said the signs get reused each year ( hmmmmm okeee )

scored 4) 4x8 in 1mi from my apt. thats about all i could roll up and cram into the back seat of the fiesta!! was done in 20mins from leaving to gold rush around 9pm. Then scored those foam laminated poster boards from work 23) 2'x3' and 7) 2'x2'. So i have ALLOT of template/scrap material to work with!! Gonna look for more signs on the way home tonight.

Side note: Some of your local farmers just on the outskirts of major cities may have their signs up longer than usual... Might check them out if you haven't they usually have 4-8 signs just alone 1 field.

Good Luck every1!
