Hardly-Ableson introduces electric motorcycle
Harley-Davidson Introduces Electric Motorcycle - ABC News
They may need to add a second battery pack and perhaps a trailer to carry the subwoofers needed to replicate the din.

While I'm not a fan of Harley (I live in ground zero Harley land, with a Harley plant only a few miles from my house, they're everywhere and most are annoying loud all summer long), its good to see them investing in developing electric bikes. It'll only move things forward.
edit: I see the comments are already getting humorous.

I was just glad they did give it some kind of fake exhaust noise I wouldn't want to have some of the motorcycle riders I've seen around here on a bike I couldn't hear. it's already difficult enough to keep an eye out for some of the more reckless ones.

I attribute the loud Harleys to the same mindset as ricer kids with #10 mufflers and 10-year-olds with playing cards clipped to their bikes so they flap in the spokes: some of them just really like the noise.
Maybe you can fit a TurboSpoke to the H-D LectroLump.

I'm not saying I like the noise just the warning that it gives i don't know how it is by you but here I regularly see bikers doing 70 in 50-55mph areas that want to zip in between cars with barely a 20 foot gap. Freeways are even worse because you rarely see them going under 90 mph and the exhaust is all the warning you get that they're going to be right next to you in 0.974 seconds. And the morons who ride without helmets are the worst offenders it's like they have a death wish or something.
I've got nothing against motorcyclists as long as you follow the same traffic rules as everyone else. Just because you're smaller and faster doesn't mean you're above the law. Heck, I don't care if you have a silent exhaust and use a siren instead I just want to be warned that you're coming.

One good reason for a loud exhaust is to alert the deer around here. A friend died a few years ago after he hit one, his bike had a quiet exhaust. That's not saying it was the cause but it could have made a difference. He had a helmet on and it broke his neck so helmets don't always help unless you go less than 15 mph.

Loud noise safety system for deer, like semi's sneak up on them. BIL scores 1/2 dozen a year with his quiet semi.
