Heated Hoodie = Reduced Need for Winter Warm-Up/Idle?
The older I get, the less tolerance I have for cold temperatures. I've been testing a Milwaukee Tools heated hoodie for the past few weeks. It's quickly become my favorite sweatshirt. It's like a heated seat that goes wherever you go.
I've been extremely fortunate to do the work-at-home thing, but that may change soon. I haven't had to deal with a daily rush hour commute in cold weather since the late nineties. Not really looking forward to falling back into the rat race, but there are too many bills to pay.
No one likes to sit in a cold car. I'm wondering how much daily warm-up/idle time could be eliminated by wearing the hoodie on the coldest days. :/
I love heated seats, but I've never owned a vehicle equipped with them. I always thought heated steering wheels were goofy, until I drove a car with a heated wheel, on a cold day. Maybe a set of heated gloves will be next …

Thanks for the test.
Do you know of any good heated gloves that are slim enough to allow good dexterity ?

Thanks, CD!
I've been looking for typing gloves with open fingertips - I turn the house thermostat down to 60º during the winter and my hands are always cold. There's a bunch of cheap ugly knitted USB gloves on Amazon, but I haven't ordered anything yet.

If you don't have heated seats, you don't have to buy a whole vehicle to get them.

I must say it actually works. At least the fan cooling part.
Its not exactly like sitting on ice water chilled PVC lines but it beats the heck out of nothing.
I mainly wanted it for the heating function for this winter.
All for only $50 shipped to your door (USA).
I figure if condensation were to be a problem with the ice water cooling rig I would simply put my ice cooled rig over top of this and use the fan portion and maybe some heat to dry the seat cooler when its not running ice water through it.

Picked this up a few months back.

Nice! I've never seen a seat topper with ventilation, in addition to the heaters.

A regular winter hat and gloves work for me.

Try a swing arm reading lamp and a heat bulb, like for reptile tanks. Even a regular incandescent could do. Yes, it's inefficient for lighting, as such, but spot heating is a lot better than heating the whole house! It's also dual-purpose, light and heat.
We did it for my wife for a couple years, but little kids like destroying things and she... would rather heat the whole house because it's cold where her desk is backed up to the sliding glass doors.

When I read the thread title I wasn't sure what to think. I did think you meant "Hoodie" as in the clothing, but also thought perhaps you meant a heated car hood which may be a good idea for us hypermilers.
