Hello from Canada
Hello everyone, I have been here before years ago, but wanted to actually get into it this time. Hoping to get to share some mpg increases and any mods I do. Have a good one

Thanks Stubby! I want to get some efficiency out of my 93 F150. It was abused pretty good when I got it, but it has the reliable 300 I6 in it and only 155K so I believe it will last me. I changed the oil pan gasket and put some fresh oil in it. The guy at Napa said 5W-20 was what they called for so I got some of that, changed the spark plugs, cap, rotor, new wires, new MAP sensor, cleaned the IAC but its still running a bit off. My best has been about 13.47 mpg all highway at a solid 70kmh...I will start posting fuel economy at my next fillup end of the week. Only getting about 9-11mpg regular I also put on new tires, stock size to help with around town mileage, they are lighter than the 31" all terrains that were on it

The nice thing about something that was never designed to be fuel efficient is that there's a lot you can improve on. Should be fun?

Lol that is true! If I can get 15-17mpg regular I would be very excited. Once I get the tuneup and get it running right, change rear end fluid, transfer case etc, and driving like gramma, I hope I can get it there

I want to say I was getting ~17-19mpg in my 95 XL, 300 I6 + 5MT. I can't recall what rear axle ratio it had, but it had a tall topper, which definitely did not help aerodynamics.

That mileage sounds wonderful to me right now Ecky! I hope once I figure out all the running issues, that I will be able to squeak out 17mpg...it has 3.55 rear end in this one so I could change that, but where I live its all 50kmh speeds and hills, so thinking maybe 3:55 would be good?...Also hoping to get a canopy, I was wondering if the taller ones would help or hurt mileage, do you think a cab high one would help? Thanks

Mine sloped up from the cab going back. That increases frontal area and coefficient of drag, which is doubly bad for fuel economy. One that slopes down from the cab to tailgate height is probably the best for economy, but not very useful or practical. A flat bed cover improves aerodynamics.
As for gearing, the taller the better. The 300 has loads of torque and gearing will never be too tall for it. The tallest rear end ratio with the tallest and narrowest tires you can get will likely result in the best fuel economy.
