Welcome aboard! Glad to hear you are liking your Insight. I am sure it does stand out on German roads. Good luck with the grid charger install.

Today I had a nice eco trip to Hamburg: 78 mpg. On my way back home, I had chosen the Autobahn with a speed of 86 to 93 mph with 56 mpg. Every now and then my cars have to run with high engine load for about half an hour or so, and it feels as if they were grateful somehow.

Actually this was not maximum speed. The insight is electronically limited to 111 mph. Somebody has calculated that it could even be faster thanks to the low drag effect. Funny is that it gets that fast only in 3rd gear.

So my trip yesterday (in 5th gear) was not at full throttle.

It was a good idea to drive fast for a while. Today on my way to work I did the lean burn limbo as usual and got 81 mpg.

Have you ever considered attempting to disable the speed limiter?

I have no idea how I could do that. And I think it is really fast enough. This car's job is not about saving time, but fuel.

Have you made any mods to the car like aero improvements or weight reduction?

No, this car never was modded in any way. Eveything is factory default except for the steel rims.
