Help Me convince Nokian to Make the Entyre in 165/65/14

Hi,

I have been using the Nokian LRR Entyre on my daily driver 2003 Prius now for a year. This tire is fantastic. It has excellent grip, crisp road feel and turn-in and long tread wear (UTQG 700 A A) proven by over a year of tough, spirited driving including several road trips and a night time emergency stop in wet weather to avoid hitting a rabbit who crossed the road. They are very quiet as well. MPGs are always in the 50's in the winter and 60's in the summer.

I want Nokian to start to make these tires for the Insight and the Mirage to give us a long lasting sporty alternative to the fast wearing, relatively low grip RE92s.

If it were my car I would try and see if the 185 fit. It's only 1/2 inch bigger in any direction and would give an overall higher gear ratio which might improve economy. At 60 mph on the speedometer you would actually be going 62.9 mph.

The reason I don't use the bigger size, other than the fact they will look too big, is that every increase in tire size adds roughly a point of CD. It makes a big difference.

I would gladly sign a petition for them to make these tires. I will email them and ask them how low they can make the RCC if they do decide to make them. It will be hard to match the RE92's RCC of 0.006 though.

Is that number from the age-old green seal report or have there been more tests?

To be frank, I would be happy with a tire that comes close but has better grip and tread life. Often Nokians are less expensive as well. They do seem to be capable of great things though, since they still make the best snow tires.

A single new sectional tire mold costs some where around $50,000.
This is why they pick and chose sizes that are produced so carefully.

Yeah, it's a big investment, but with the intro of the Mirage, and the poor competition in this size, I'm hoping there will be some margin for them there. The other tires do not exactly have good ratings other than LRR so they may get a good chunk of the market. You can only try.

They've just launched the eNtyre 2 so if anything 's coming, it'll be in that range .

Mind you, Nokia are still sitting on their eLine (2012) - an entire line of tyres presented to the press but never commercialised.
