In Milwaukee at $1500:
For Sale 1997 Honda Civic LX 5spd
Here's a rough but ready Geo under a grand in Madison:
1993 geo
A 95 Corolla 4dr, 5spd in Middleton, also under a grand if you don't mind secondhand doors:
1995 Toyota Corolla DX 5 speed
A '92 Accord for $1500 in Sheboygan, actually looks okay considering it's so cheap:
1992 Honda Accord Lx 5-Speed

Nope. I still have the Prius. My wife is now driving it instead of me. She is doing great too. She is getting 60+ mpg!
