In Milwaukee at $1500:
For Sale 1997 Honda Civic LX 5spd

Here's a rough but ready Geo under a grand in Madison:
1993 geo

A 95 Corolla 4dr, 5spd in Middleton, also under a grand if you don't mind secondhand doors:
1995 Toyota Corolla DX 5 speed

A '92 Accord for $1500 in Sheboygan, actually looks okay considering it's so cheap:
1992 Honda Accord Lx 5-Speed

I like the Civic. I may email and see if its manual. The rest are too far away. Darin and I were discussing this the other day. 30 minute drive or less for a beater car.

Nope. I still have the Prius. My wife is now driving it instead of me. She is doing great too. She is getting 60+ mpg!

Dang... I wish it were closer. I'd nab that up in a heartbeat. I've been wanting a 1st gen manual Civic hybrid since... well a long time. Lean burn + hybrid, whats better than that?

Only having two doors and two seats

(I don't know about your life situation, maybe you need more than two seats.)
