Not enitrely sure about the trans(only that its auto), but the engine is a 2.2L

That's actually a decent combination for fuel economy. You have the 4T40E 4-speed transmission with lockup. It's a very strong unit that's also used in a lot of mid-sized V6-powered cars. Be glad that you didn't get stuck with the 3-speed.

3 speeds suck. talk about engine wailing down the highway. My friends geo has a 3 speed auto w/out overdrive. Great in the city though.

Got my scangauge yesterday. Todays drive to work i got 33.5 mpg, 22% over the newly revised EPA rating of 27 highway, and 45% better than the 23 mpg combined EPA rating! now that i have the scangauge i can figure out what route is best for me.
