Upon closer inspection of the plug I found one of the proximity or CANbus pins had fallen out.
Edit, I think the chademo only uses 7 of the 8 small pins.
It looks like receptacle on the car doesn't have jack guts in that spot compared to the other 7 jacks.
I went to see if the pin had broken off in the car and it doesn't look like there is anything in that spot for a pin to make contact with.

Well that's not it.
Looks like pin number 3 does not have a function. Pin number 3 is the one missing.
I have observed that the lock tab on the chademo clicks when pressed, activating a micro switch. I realized I no longer hear that clicking.
I believe this micro switch is wired in serries with the proximity circuit. So if this switch isn't closed the plug isn't reading as being plugged in all the way.

Still broke. Customer service from setec appears to be nonexistent.
More checks I can do on the analog side are check for 12v on pin 2 and 4, make sure pin 1 has ground contact between the vehicle and charger
Also when I try to connect the chademo then check leaf spy the number of quick charges remains the same. So the connection between the chademo is never being established, I didn't think it was but this confirms it.

It’s been a long time, but I remember seeing someone in install what I remember to be a “Brusa” brand upgrade charger in an early Leaf. I believe it to max rate up near 10KW. I have no idea if the Gen 2 charger would work in gen 1 car, it I’ve seen reports of people dropping the 6.6 into a 2013-2017 which was factory equipped with a 3.3 with good results.
Best of luck repairing the Chademo!

My chadmo has no 12v power anywhere in my chadmo.
I think the 12v supply burned out.
I have 240v power going to it and one of the 12v wires coming off the power supply is showing 0 the problem is disassembling it enough to repair or modify it. Everything that should have 12v power is reading 0.
24v power supply is good, or the hmi screen wouldn't come on.
I can't even reach the 12v wires on the power supply with my multimeter probes. It was the first part put into the enclosure and would be the last to come out.

Well I found some 12v power supply units that look identical to what's in my chadmo. They are sold as a "led light strip power supply". Don't think those $5 power supplies were designed to be operating electromagnetic devices like all the relays in the chadmo.

I would add a reverse diode just so the relays don't fry it again. 12 v light strip P/S? That's an odd voltage anymore
Have you tried powering it with external 12vdc?

I did fix my chademo shortly after my last post.
Must have just been a bad component in the power supply.
I brutally cut out the old power supply with a cut off wheel, pulled it out and tested it, found it to be dead for sure and replaced it. The problem was I could not reach the 12v power supply it was buried inside the chademo unit.

It killed the power supply again.
Sad thing is I probably only used it around a dozen times in the last 5 months.
Last time I couldn't find my diode stash so I ran it with out a reverse bias diode and I bought a little 20v MOV, never installed it, just added it to my MOV stash but at least I know where it is.
This time I got the 33 amp power supply. The original power supply was a 30 amp, I replaced it with a 20 as I didn't know the ratings since it was inside the chademo.

Just for interest, how many amps pull from the power supply?
