e*clipse had said the speed was a part of the max torque per amp adjustment and he was absolutely right. I had to modify the test for saliency from
commanding constant current from 0RPM to "RUN OUT OF VOLTAGE" and record the time, seeing what <Id,Iq> (where Id^2 + Iq^2 = currentCommand^2) results in the best time.
The new test is to chop up 0 voltage to "RUN OUT OF VOLTAGE" into several rpm intervals. (0, voltage1), (voltage1, voltage2), (voltage2, voltage3), ... and then, for each of those intervals, see what <Id,Iq> (where Id^2 + Iq^2 = currentCommand^2) results in the best acceleration. So, you would get an array of Id's. Then, we make a curve, and depending on the RPM (or depending on the voltage. same thing) AND depending on the current command, you choose <Id,Iq>.
By the way, field weakening bumped up the top RPM by a factor of 1.222 at 120vDC bus. I was doing a lot of experiments, and didn't want to use as high a voltage.

Question about the MGR: what is the dimension between the output couplings? I hope it is a foot or less ...

I got it up to 2270 RPM at 120vDC bus. That's getting closer to the oak ridge numbers. I'll try again tomorrow morning before church.

Made some progress with the GS450H gearbox. Using the DIR pin from Paul's resolver board has made a big difference. OF course then I receive some PCBs in the post today from Paul with a new resolver board and the DIR pin is broken out

Had more results with the GS450h motor. Running on 320V and lots of RPMs. Now I just need an oil pump ....

First, congratulations on your progress with this project!
The motor you're working with is part of the transmission for the GX450h, correct? Isn't there a pump built in? Something like a very svelt gerotor pump?

it's from a GS450h. I made up a crude adapter plate from a piece of 1/2" aluminium and tapped three 1/4" bsp holes over the ports. This will allow me to use an external pump and run some more experiments.Best guess is left is the pressure port , right is return and bottom is a dipstick port. More to follow ...

Running with oil pressure from the internal pump. Next plan : external 12v pump. Just need to find one....
