How does Bombshell Betty not rust ( Buick LSR racer )
I love the look of this car so much so that I have even entertained the thought of doing it to my car. ( A '93 Civic that is probably worth about $50 )
I read up on bare metal cars and even with a coat of clear, a coat of oil rubbed on daily, or so many of the other tricks used, there is still the occasional rust that pops up.
Bombshell Betty is not only bare metal, but flaunts her daring by driving on SALT.
I didn't find anything online to answer the question ( yes i looked )
Any guesses how the car is kept so rust free ?
( I guess i could email the guy, right ? )

Humm... 'Cause you need water for rust, and it doesn't rain all that much in Utah?

None of the cars here in Florida rust, but the clear coat bakes off them after a while so they all still look like crap eventually.
I could bring Turtle down to bare metal and polish the aluminum, but I'm not sure what I'd do about the half that's plastic, lol!

Already ahead of you. I would just paint it to look like bare metal using metallic paint. ( Not just spray paint either - that just looks fake )
Paint it by hand and paint in all of the variances in color and such.
If I had an G1 Insight, I would absolutely do this, since it is aluminum.
You can also get a brushed steel vinyl wrap for the plastic parts - much like this car here, ( although this doesn't look like brushed metal ) :
Here is a car with a brushed metal wrap :
I love the look of bare metal cars such as this one :

Don't be misled by that Plastidipped wheel. Bare metal is in.
Rust went out when Jess James dragged that Beetle out of a pond in Texas:
