How far away do you live from work?

I'm about 8 miles (i.e. 16 mile round-trip). How many miles do you have
to drive each day? I'm assuming most people here have pretty long commutes, but maybe I'm assuming wrong.

Yup, I have a 35+ mile commute to work. If not for that, I probably wouldn't be here. It's not that I wouldn't support and applaud this kind of forum, it's just that there isn't enough time in the day.

I used to drive 32 miles one way until I got laid off and had to try and find another job. I was on unemployment for 8 months, and finally found another job. Now I drive 52 miles one way. I live in an area where the county unemployment rate is above 20%. The largest employer in town closed down and moved the production of the auto parts to Mexico.

portal-to-portal: 26.2 miles oneway, 52.4 miles round trip each workday.

...when this posting is 'done' it'd make an interesting "plot" to gain some idea of how well (or not) we 'fit' into GM's 40 mile range day-dream.

3 miles. I don't bicycle as much as I ought to, but I do carpool 9 out of 10 days.

I have a 35 mile commute to school twice a week; I always use this commute to get my average mpg up for the tank. Go and slow traffic on Hwy 50 is great for pulse and glide and mpg.

20 miles to both school and work from home 1 way. Not too bad. 40 miles round trip.
