1) Order these plans: XR3

2) Build it.

A friend of mine bought the plans and is going to start on a Pure EV version of it this summer.

He may even build a couple of frames to sell to other people who buy the plans but don't want to build the frame themselves.

^^ Looks great but I'm not interested in building my own body panels! I'd love to buy that as a rolling chassis of some sort though. Looks interesting. I heard that the designer as only selling plans now. I'll keep an eye on that to see if it ever gets a more turn-key package.

She is a beauty! I'll have to look more carefully at the specs.

Chuck are you from Monroe Louisiana? If so you're not TOO far from me. If I end up purchasing the CAMI Biotrike I may take a roadtrip down to N.O. for the weekend. We should meet up.

Yep, I live in that Monroe. It would be pretty cool to meet a fellow ecomodder.

Okay, maybe something that could be done on a budget...
Tie a small motor to a rear wheel. Set up something like a cruise control switch, where when you reach a cruise speed, you turn on the unit and power it at a set rate, for example, 48V and 50A. That's about 3hP. It would not be able to keep you at cruising speed by itself, but it will offset some gas use.
Turn the motor off when the brakes are tapped. If it has regen capabilities, then that capability is used when the brakes are engaged.
Thoughts?

Sounds a lot like an open-source Poulsen Hybrid. Haven't heard anything out of them for a while. If they're not careful, someone will come up with a decent bolt-on wheel-motor, and beat them to the punch...

...like an Ecomodder!!!
