Mazda has the Miata.
Honda has the CRZ.
Nissan has the 370Z.
Why doesn't Toyota have a two seater?

Even though it's technically a 2+2 (have you ever tried sitting in those back "seats"?), the 86 is Toyota's competitor in this segment.

Actually, I wouldn't lump the CR-Z or 370Z in there either--the CR-Z is a front-drive hybrid that RWD sports car drivers are not cross-shopping, and the 370Z starts at $29,990, several thousand dollars more than the Miata or 86.

I just believe Toyota is missing out on the single driver who just wants to drive to work cheaply, or the high school kid who only needs to get back and forth to school.
Not looking for a sports car, but a fun minimalist car like the old CRX. Yes, the Prius line has the Prius C, but why not take it a step further, and lose the back seat? You know, a Prius "Smart For Two"?

I get the impression that, culturally, two-seaters are out right now. Toyota has probably made the right move in having 2+2's.

OTOH, I only drive two seaters.
