Honda motorcycles has a major corporate commitment to fuel economy. The new PCX150 scooter averages about 95 mpgUS on fuelly and is a very fun way to get around. The new 700cc, 500cc, and 250cc bikes are also designed with high efficiency in mind.

Jim
FOT when hill climbing is the most efficient configuration I read in an article once...

So, Which modification got you more?
Why the brake-safety-start, bypass?

I'd say they all contribute to the 100 mpg, the new spark plug got me about 10 mpg, everything else was about ~5 mpg each item.

Just now, going up our hill, in the designated bike lane because I have a 50cc scoot. Still accelerating, approx 15-20mph...And a SUV rapidly appears in a side street. I hit the brakes, and spill the scoot. I have an AIRZOUND horn operated by the same thumb for the electric horn-which should blare off before the electric. It happened so fast, that I could not get to the 120dB horn trigger which is located at the base of thumb. I was also wearing a flagger's vest.

DumbAss-He said he didn't see me.
Dumbass -ME, I'm NOT going to ride in the bike lane even though I am slow enough and legally supposed to be in the bike lane. I don't have enough reaction time or maneuvering room in the bike lane.

The TaoTao gas cap leaks. Luckily I spilled the scoot on the left, and not on the muffler side. I had some trouble in pulling foot from under the bike.

Steering column is now out of alignment. Some scrape marks on cowling, and skin abrasion on leg.

Oh, since the gas cap leaked, I'm going to scratch the #3 tank milage for tank #3A.

funny thing was, I was not looking at the gauge on the fuel pump but was looking inside the tank so that I would fill it EXACTLY the way I did in prior tanks so that I could be as precise as i could to fill it since the tank is so small.

My last 2 tanks (which I have not updated yet) are not as good, but not bad at 91 and 94 mpg (too much FOT )

Sorry to bring up an old post but.....

Back in school, I had a 1997 tbird and a little honda spree 50cc scooter. Since my house was only six blocks from school I would take the scooter. That little 50cc would only go about 28mph after a full tune up. I can't remember the gas milage. I took it all apart and "ported" the intake and exhaust. I just smothed everything out and got rid of any rough edges or sharp corners. Put it all back together and it would do 32 mph and it bumped the mpg 15% too. With all that being said, the best thing about that scooter was that I would park it right by the door to the engineering building and the other guys would have to hike in from the far parking lots. HA! I loved that tiny thing!

Just an idea.
