When Sweetie was shopping for a truck, I asked her what kind of tranny she wanted.
"Oh, manual, definitely. They're easier."

+1 Some people just don't know how to pick 'em. My wife drives a minivan because it's what she needs. But when I got the Honda home she climbed in to take a look, said "Oh good, a clutch!" Then she tore out in it to have fun.

My aunt who still lives in Austria was horrified that my Ma still hasn't learned stick. "Automatics are for disabled and old people!"

Many disabled drivers actually still use manual transmissions. Sure you shouldn't expect a quadriplegic driver to do so, but I still see more paraplegic drivers using manual than automatic in my country.

My wife's first car in 1979 was a punch buggy, and she's had several manual shifts since then, including a Jeep Cherokee she absolutely loved.
She's a little intimidated by all the dash displays on the Turtle, but she's coming around. For now she's content to sit in the AC while I drive, I think she's just relieved we're not carpooling in the Black Widow any more!

Had to drive in a lot of stop and go traffic today on my way to L.A. For a nanosecond I missed auto, then I realized I was shifting and pushing clutch without thinking. Lel.

I don't mind shifting gears, but in heavy stop-and-go traffic the clutch pedal does bother me. I also hate maneuvering in a tight parking spot with a manual, my left knee often hurts when I have to do it.
