I need help with my camera and monitor setup.
I have searched here and IC.net, but have not found an actual explanation on how to install this.
I have three monitors, and three cameras.
I am thinking to connect the rear view camera to the day time running lights, so one twist on the Insight will turn them on.
My first mild concern is hooking up to the front. Does anyone have a clear and idiot proof way for me to turn the three monitors and two cameras on in the front?
Also, these are cheap low power units, but what should I do about a fuse? Do others use them? None of the builds I have seen have progress- just
1) idea
2)?
3) profit!
The build itself, install of everything, is fine. Its the simple electronics.
I apologize for the issues with this message, but I am mobile, and EM could definitely use a mobile friendly application....hint lol

I powered my side video mirrors and the monitors from a light in the storage bin in my dash. It powers up whenever the car is on. The monitors have a feature that keeps them on, and they power up automatically when power is on. My second set of monitors (I am using the third set) did not have this feature, and this was terribly annoying - especially with EOC and shutting the car off at stop lights.
All my monitors have their own inline fuses. Be careful with routing the wires.
I hope this helps - and maybe you can restate your question once you get to a computer?

Should a fuse be used?
Where should I cut into on a G1 Insight on the front end for DRLs?
Does anyone have any better ideas, or suggestions/advice?

I was hoping for more input.
I don't know if my cheap junk has inline fuses. So the rear will be set with the DRLs, and I guess I will have to figure out what I should do with the monitors and cameras up front. I was thinking a power line from the battery, up front- not IMA, and then a fuse, with each one connected to it.
My zero knowledge about electricity is hampering this. My fear of not electrocuting myself again also slows this down.

.
I put mine on switches. If you wire the monitor and or camera directly to the battery it will slowly drain it, even if the monitor is turned off.

Again...???
Just don't let a hot positive dead short to ground and everything should be ok...

Maybe post a link to what you actually have.

If you're not confident with electricity, the safest place to connect them would be the accessory socket.

Yes, again, it was a long time ago, but after regaining consciousness I learned to be EXTRA cautious of my body and electricity.
When I didn't wire a fuse for an amp and it caught fire in my truck, I learned ANYTHING IMPORTANT near electricity should be well thought out before hand lol.
I wish I had a computer. I think I will just do a switch, then. Battery, wire with fuse to switch, switch splitting to five components in front.
Posting my items would help assist.

My mind wandered and I expected you to continue with "tequila."
Were you okay, though? I had a friend suggest that something was a learning experience. I do not talk to her anymore, but if you did not hurt yourself, maybe you can prevent something worse.

Ultarc, you could power them with the rear defroster like I did. I hit the defroster button and the back-up camera stays on full time.

The rear view camera has a limited function out the back (because it's a wide angle lens and anything behind you looks like it's half a mile away), but it's freaking awesome for cars coming up beside me. There's no blind spot behind the Insight of course since it narrows in the rear, but there's a giant blind spot on the sides! As cars come up on my sides, they disappear from the side view mirrors, but my wide angle rear monitor sees them until they're right next to me, so I can see the back of their car in the monitor and the front out my side window!
