EDIT: Couldn't smart add a foot to the front and rear of the car and make it much safer, and more aerodynamic.
Like Frank said, when I was in Paris I saw why they didn't add anything to it :

Notice no parking ticket (but maybe this was a weekend thing?!?!?!).

As for adding aeromods, that's what we're for :

He's up on the curb...

Although I do agree, you can get 3 smarts in a regular car spot.

Yeah, the funny part is that the Smart is *between* two Twingos. The Smart is out-smalling the Twingos!

Umm... try THAT in NYC one time - you're likely to get your Smart flipped over...

Yeah, I wouldn't do that unless there was perpendicular-specific parking. It's bad enough getting your bumper dinged without also getting your door or fender pressed in.

No matter the case of whether or not Americans drive a F150 to commute in, I'd rather be in the vehicle that has more weight. And while I'm sure that's not all that goes into a crash, a F150 vs. a Smart Car would not be much of a wreck.

But, for the record, I hate people driving pick-ups in the middle of the city all the time.

Why can't people seem to understand that cars are for driving, not crashing?

You said it!!!

Once upon a time I researched highway fatalities and did the math. I don't remember the numbers, but for a person to become a highway fatality they would have to drive 20,000 miles/year for 600 years, or something ridiculous like that.

Much ado about nothing.

I agree ****ing 100% I am so tired of hearing that. Or my second favorite one "Yeah that Smart would lose in a wreck vs (insert heavier car)."

Unfortunately accidents do happen, people do get injured and die.... whether it is your fault or not. It's going to happen. In a perfect world everybody would follow the traffic laws and there would be no accidents, but it's not. You have to play with what you've got.
