Considering that forklifts are seen as more related to a tractor than to a car or truck in my country, that makes sense. On a sidenote, since the Renault-Nissan alliance was trying to focus on a wide array of applications for the very same basic drivetrain of the Leaf to the point of having fitted it even to a truck, it wouldn't be so surprising to see some newer forklifts also resorting to that motor instead of the KA24 engine...

In the US electric Toyota forklifts have been using AC motors for at least 5 years now. But they are sill using lead acid at 36v.

Since the lower the voltage the larger a motor usually is in order to develop the same power, that's not so pointless at all since it will allow to use less ballast weight.

It's a custom forklift only FLA, having a mix of chemicals in the plates. Forklift batteries can be ran dead and recharged, have huge gaps under the plates for slough off. Cheap chemistry, 100% recyclable, existing compatibility with thousands of businesses.
