You can find 12v pumps for $10. I carry one in every vehicle. If I have to use it even once, it has paid for itself. If I can drive somewhere with free air, I can probably drive to my garage.

I try to carry my bike pump in my car. It is tiring. Eh. Free PT. Mom has a 12v compressor.
My bike pump is faster.

Yeah, bike pumps would be faster. Those cheap 12v things aren't something to use regularly. That's a thought, to buy compact and cheap bike pumps to keep in the car. Those cheap pumps tend to be extremely fragile though, and still take ages to add air.

Widowmaker?
I've driven VW for five decades and I've never seen such a jack. Here's four pages on VW jacks. The first page alone shows different jacks for the Types I, II and III, with six for the Type II alone.

Also, I heard about someone who had a Tiguan or something that the electric gas flap wouldn't open and there is no mechanical release.

That's what I've been doing for ~6 years now, and only on my second cheap pump (the first took about 4 years for the internal seals to wear out). Faster than a powered compressor, and I get a little exercise.

During the 2008-2009, etc. depression, a new car dealer sold TWO Hyundai Accents for $14,000. The TWO Accents probably stayed away from car repairmen better than ONE Acura.

I'd need to see proof of that, because I don't believe they were going new for $7k. Cheapest car you could get back then was at least $12k.
Can't speak for all Acuras, but the TSX has an impressive reliability record. My 2006 so far has needed a set of tires, wiper inserts, and I changed the gearbox oil a couple years ago along with yearly oil changes. I've knocked the dust out of the air filter about once a year too. Oh, it's on the 2nd battery too.
Anyhow, this would have been 2009, and I'm sure she paid whatever the dealer offered because that's the type of person she was. She could "afford" it, and that's all that matters.

Acura buyers seldom wade in the shallow end of the price pool. Even before the depression, Accents were selling for $10,000 (lower?). When the depression started, Accents began selling for $9000, then $8000+, & then sub-$8000. Accents have had sporadic low sales prices, when one looked. You didn't look. Then, one of the new car dealers sold TWO Accents for $14,000(sorry, not $7000 for one). I always laughed when some people said Hondas & Hyundais were in the same price area. Hyundai dealers often accepted lower new car offers, when Honda sales-people were trained to stick on the retail plus price.

Not calling you a liar, just saying I'd need to see evidence to be convinced. I accept it could have happened. What was the average sales price though? A 1-time deal isn't the basis for decision making.
I'd take an Accent over an Aveo. Still, wouldn't buy one new over a different used vehicle for the same amount of money.
My guess is a healthy economy is the time for a deal on a used vehicle.

Then there's the guy who called up his ex-wife and said "Sell the Porsche and send me the money."
